Week 3 bonus challenge

We are going to have a bonus challenge this week because I loved this idea.
MYPLATE

In June, the USDA released a substitute to the "food pyramid." It is called MyPlate!! And this is what it looks like...

I love it!!! It makes a lot more sense than the pyramid and is a great visual for what my plate (haha) should look like every day.

The challenge this week is to work on getting your dinner plates to look like the guide!! So, half your plate should be filled with fruits and vegetables (with an emphasis on the veggies). These, of course, are much more nutritious when they are fresh or frozen fresh with no added sugar or salt. The other half of your plate should contain a serving of lean protein (generally about 4 ounces) and a serving of grains along with a serving of dairy on the "side." (It doesn't actually have to be on the side of your plate!!!)

Every day that your dinner plate is correctly portioned you will earn 5 points for a total of 35 points. (7 days x 5 pts = 35 points total)

This will be a challenge that you will most likely want to plan and shop for this weekend so you will be ready to go on Monday!!! Good luck and healthy eating to all...

Kim
