I have a question for y'all (as I sit here at my computer eating my dinner). How are you doing with this week's challenge? I find it pretty easy to put my food on a plate or other single serving size dish but I am finding it VERY hard not to multitask as I eat. How are all of you guys doing?
This has been quite an annoying challenge. I fix my plate, set it at the table, and sometimes an hour later get back to eating since I can't take it with me! And I am way behind on things because I can't multitask while I eat!!!!! But I am doing it and will sure be glad when this challenge is over!!!!! Now back to the laundry that needs to be folded and hopefully to a 15 minute walk to finish getting in my 45 minutes of exercise. And if I'm lucky I might find time to shower. Ahhh, the joys of school, and instrument camp commitments. I'm getting nothing done...
ReplyDeleteI have had the hardest time. I will fail. I forgot Monday and Tuesday and when I came home (after fixing supper and cleaning up) I finally had time to eat my plate and promptly took it to the couch to put my feet up for the first time in 12 hours. Yesterday Rachel and I were eating together and I looked at her and said, "the challenge!!!" and she said "we are so bad". Yup, but tonight I sat at the table and ate with my feet on the floor. I have managed to keep my plate on the table for breakfast and lunch but have had to throw it out because of someone else who has thrown their food and it landed in my plate.
ReplyDeleteI am going to change the wording in the bonus challenge some so that it will be easier for our busy lives. I am also going to add the journal entry so make sure to read the weekly bonus challenge again. But wait until tomorrow because I am pretty tired tonight and am probably going to bed instead :)
ReplyDeleteI think it is good to put your food on something- better than eating out of the box and not knowing how much to eat. It is also valuable to sit at the table when eating. But, I can't help but read if there is no one else around (which is rare but sometimes I eat after the kids at lunch). Also, the other day I had to run an errand and realized I hadn't eaten in a while. I had to eat in the van (I did put a certain amount in a baggie) so that I wouldn't get shaky while I was out.
ReplyDeleteI think you hit the hammer on the head, Blenda. I think the whole point of this challenge is to make us more aware of the amount we consume. And I think the biggest culprit is snack foods. If I have a banana I can only eat that banana (minus the bites Natalie is sure to beg for). But if I open a bag of chips or any other snack, I have no idea how much I actually ate and how much my kiddos ate. And kudos to you for packing a snack for your errands. If it was me I would have either A) cut my errands short or B) stopped and picked up a dollar burger for me and then one for each of the kids. I tend to go with A because it is cheaper :)
ReplyDeleteAgree completely Blenda. We will still have to have the food we eat measured out into a portion and put on a plate or bowl or in a small bag or on a napkin. I just want to change it so that we realize how much we are eating when we eat out of a box or bag that has like 10 or 15 servings in it. I'll post it up tomorrow and either everyone can try to change their spreadsheet at this late date or else if you are like me will get no bonus points this week.
