Last week was our last week of 2 teams. We are going to one large team starting TODAY. So you can contact whoever you want to.
Also, I know some of us are struggling with the bonus challenges and to be quite honest that was the one thing that I hated about the original Lifetime Wellness Challenge. I want to discontinue them but at the same time hate to change things mid stream (although I already changed teams a couple times...lol). So I will continue them but am going to make them really easy (at least for most of us).
We are halfway through and I also want your feedback. What do you like? Would you like me to make any changes NOW? Is anyone interested in doing another challenge with me? Does anyone have any suggestions for easy bonus challenges for the rest of the challenge? Let me know of ideas y'all might have.
I see the benefit of the bonus challenges because they help to make us more aware of our habits that may not necessarily be good. But I think since we have been enlightened there is no need to do them again on a different challenge.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would like to continue the challenge (without bonus challenges) after this one is over. I like the idea of all being on the same team and cheering eachother on. I see the great benefit of this and think it helps to have others working towards the same goal with you. I think if we didn't continue to do it I would become very lazy about getting in my exercise and fruits and veggies every day. I know something I could do better at is counting calories. But I don't know if I want that thrust upon me as a bonus challenge :)
Well, I just made a big, long comment, then realized I wasn't signed in. ugh. So here I go again...
ReplyDeleteI told Kim yesterday, but thought I would post so everyone knew. I would do another challenge. Even if everyone else doesn't want to do it, I would probably join the official challenge with whichever of those Terry girls. As far as the bonus challenge, I don't care one way or another. On one hand, it helps kick it up a notch. But some of the challenges are difficult, if not impossible, for some of us to do. But I really like the challenge. It provides accountability that I need. Otherwise I would never eat salads and gorge on brownies lol.
I'd like to take a week or two break between challenges so I can spend a short time not worrying about points, but then I'd like to do another 8 week challenge without the bonuses. Because otherwise I would never eat salads and gorge on brownies too! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I like being one team. We can cheer each other on and just post winners of highest points, most weight lost, and that sort of thing each week. That's my two cents' worth.
ReplyDeleteFirst I am going to post a comment from me and then do the next one from Janna.
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited that some of you want to do another challenge with me!! We always have a couple of weeks between challenges...just enough time to know how much we really need the accountability. I will work the next few weeks on getting the details worked out in my head. I think you should know that next week's bonus challenge on the official wellness site is no added fat on fruits and veggies. We are probably NOT going to do that but I was curious how hard that would be for you to do. Also curious how hard it would be to go without any kind of soda pop for a week. We will probably do one or the other. Some of the other bonus challenges that I have had are no white flour and no brown sugar or granulated sugar. The sugar one was VERY hard. I would like your feedback on those too. I will post results shortly...finally got them all :)
And the comment from Janna:
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t post on the blog today. I kept getting an error.
Here’s what I was going to post:
“I'd like to continue with the challenge in another session.
I have really appreciated everyone's realism about this and enthusiasm to work on healthier habits. I am easing into this due to my health problems, but I will try to increase my dedication on the food side of things and then work on the exercise part. I will just do what I can, when I can, that includes the challenges.
This whole experience for me has just helped me think first before I do things, and that alone, the thinking & accountability, has been the most important part of my awareness and progress.
Thanks everyone! You're inspiring!”
Thanks Kim for leading the group(s)!
Janna
I would also like to do another challenge. I have to say, I did get a bit discouraged as I lost three pounds the first week, then gained two back and have not been able to lose any more. I didn't pay any attention to the challenge over the weekend (other than talking about it with Janna on our way to the temple). Three days without exercise and not watching what I eat was not good for me!
ReplyDeleteMr. Carter tried to take us waterskiing yesterday (we couldn't put the boat in the water due to high winds), but just walking along the beach and then doing laps at the Y did me in. Oh, I also mowed part of my yard. Today just walking up the stairs at work was a lot of work.
So, I, too want to keep the healthy habits. Going without pop would not be hard, as I never drink it. Going without sugar or white flour would be more difficult. Not adding salad dressing to my salad would be difficult. I think that, for me to step it up a notch, I would need to do portion control. Like, not going back for seconds. Or waiting 20 minutes to see if I am really full before seconds.
Thanks for putting this together, Kim!
I love the portion control idea Kelly...I will have to remember that ;)
ReplyDeleteI am excited for these last 4 weeks. I was pretty discouraged until I found out that I actually lost 4 pounds and 6 inches. I walked Thor yesterday but really need to figure out how to step up that intensity when I have a puppy who tires out and wants to lay down in plush lawns instead of walk. I know the weight I lost was because I worked so hard at my MIL's home. I need to do a bit more housework around here it seems...or demolish a bathroom. LOL...NOT (mine are only 5 years old). But seriously, I really need to get off my duff more and and just DO SOMETHING :)
I also want to continue with another challenge. I like some of the bonus challenges and not some others. Maybe do a bonus challenge every other week or something? But, like you all think I like that it makes me more aware of what I am eating and being healthier helps a lot. Basically, I ditto what everyone else says. I want to keep going!
