Heads Up

In a couple of weeks I am going to Arkansas with Wayne. The plan is to be there a week but I might need to stay longer depending on how Rusty is doing. We've been told he is not doing well. I am pretty sure I will take a computer but it might only be the laptop instead of mine. We will be there July 26 through Aug 2 (tentative-we don't have tickets yet). I can run the Challenge from wherever there is a computer so that is not a problem I just wanted to let you know that there will be a couple days that I am in the air (quite literally). We will be doing projects around the house that week so I will not be checking on things as often as I am now but I'm sure we'll all be in the groove of it by then though. I'll let you know more as the time gets closer.

Stay tuned tomorrow. I will post some suggestions for getting in your fruits and veggies!!

  1. Is there an easy way to tell if new comments have been added to a thread? Like on MyFamily they're bold and at the top of the list. Also, does juice count as a fruit serving? Erin made popsicles out of juice for when we crave sweets. If it counts, we satisfy our sweet craving and get a fruit serving at the same time. Also, I swam for about 20 minutes today, but I worked in the yard (pulling weeds) for nearly two hours. Does the yard work count as exercise? I'm sure I'll come up with lots more questions, but that's it for now. Oh, no, there's one more...does Rachel have a cell phone with texting? If so, what's the number? Thanks!

  2. Rachel will have to answer her question.

I like MyFamily how you can tell when there is something new. I can add you to the email list so it can email you when there is something new (or you can add yourself via the link on the left sidebar) but that is the only thing that I know of you can do. It invades your email box but then you can read it there and only come to the blog if you want to comment or add a new post. Another thing to remember is that the newest posts are at the top. I have a blog archive on the left sidebar and you can browse through that to see if you have read everything. You can also look at the comments to see how many there are to know if you have read them BUT you have to have a VERY good memory. Mine gets worse and worse as I get older. :)

YES fruit juice counts as a serving of fruit and YES those fruit pops are a great way to get a sweet without using a sweet day (but they have to be 100% juice). You can even buy 100% juice Popsicles in the grocery store if you want to take the easy way out.

YES yardwork counts as exercise. But not minute to minute. My rule is that pulling weeds for 2 hours is like and hour of exercise. If you do something more strenuous then it would count for even more. Even though we have a self propelled lawn mower we have a very hilly back yard and side yard. It takes me a couple hours to mow, trim, and edge if I do it myself and I count that as exercise. I think the trick is to mix it up with aerobic and strength exercises. I hope this helps. I am happy to answer any questions you might have.
